Deep in the Canyons

The desert offers so many unique places  to rejuvenate & inspire a painter. The Indian Canyons are the perfect spot on such a lovely afternoon.  

I’m always excited and exhausted when a new large painting is completed, it’s a journey, one with plenty of twists and turns. I think this one is a favorite of mine for sure.  48 x 60 Oil on canvas , available at the Rancho Mirage Ritz Carlton Spa.

Through life’s twists and turns beneath sunny skies and dark dreary ones, there is always hope for a better tomorrow and a few lingering dreams left to come true.  

It’s a funny tension that both science and at least some philosophical and even religious traditions tell us is that the world is impermanent, nothing in it stays the same, we don’t stay the same, our bodies don’t stay the same, the people that we love and the things we love don’t stay the same,...

People say, a good heart will always be happy. But I think a good heart most often gets hurt because it hopes for only the good in people and is often deeply disappointed with the reality at hand.

    Something that attracts me to the desert is the spirit of calmness it has, it’s one of the few places I’ve been to where true presence can be experienced. It commands your attention, if you respect it, it will respect you….

    As the seasons change and the weeks roll by the beauty of the desert never fades….  The Joshua trees stand proud with no leaves to lose, the warm sun always rises in the cool eastern skies and the sets in the warm hues of the west. I’ve grown to love this landscape more...
