Return to Joy

2019 morphed into the darkest period of my life chalked full of trauma, anxiety and illness, I’ve spent the last several months seeking multiple ways to return to a place of improved health, vitality and joy. When friends and family would ask me how I’m doing I would say “I just want my joy back…” and after many months of making significant changes in my life and my thoughts I’ve finally reached a point, a threshold into a field of renewal. For anyone suffering out there, I found my way through Reiki energy work, meditation, exercise, sobriety, weight loss, good eating habits and spiritual development. It’s so true that it’s not what has happened to you in the past that defines you it’s how you choose to react that defines you… I’ve just finished a book call “Breath” The New Science of the Lost Art of Breathing by Jim Nestor, it too has been very helpful in realigning my energy. There is a simple technique I want to share of only breathing through your nose with 4 counts on the inhale, hold it for 4 seconds, exhale through your nose for a count of 4, hold the emptyness in your lungs for 4 and then repeat the process again 6 to 10 times. Breathing only through the nose stimulates different parts of your brain and oxygenates the blood much better and brings you to a calmer state. I use this through out the day with much relief. Below is an interview with him, I hope it helps others as well. Namaste
